Watson. A Basset Hound who once lived a life with owners that loved him. The story is that Meri, who had a lot of great experiences and memories with Watson, saw several paintings I did that were hanging in a real estate office and loved my style. She ended up contacting me, asking if I could and would paint Watson. Although I can paint photorealism and used to do that decades ago, I was excited that she wanted Watson to be painted in a more abstract style like the paintings she saw in the real estate office. Meri then provided a photo of Watson and we talked through colors, size, price, deadlines, and all that detail. Super fun project to work on, great people to work with, and a great result. Now Watson is the center piece of art that hangs in Meri’s living room.

Final painting. 36" x 36" oil on board.

Details showing the texture of the painting.

Original photograph of Watson provided to me, and my sketch altering his body and pose a bit so that it worked better in a square format painting.
